Things to consider:

  • Trees must be planted on your own private property, not on the boulevard (area between sidewalk and street). Minneapolis residents and property owners are welcome to request a new boulevard tree by calling (612) 313-7710 or emailing forestry@minneapolisparks.org.
  • Large shade trees should be planted at least 15 feet from power lines and/or buildings.
  • Save money on energy by planting large shade trees on the east or west side of your home.
  • Many of the trees available through this year's sale are native and/or grown from seed; as a result may be smaller than previous years' trees. Evergreen trees are expected to be about 1-4 feet tall; Shade trees are expected to be about 4-8 feet tall.
  • Trees weigh approximately 20-40 pounds.
  • For more information, contact Tree Trust’s Community Forestry Department at (651) 358-0488 or city_trees@treetrust.org.
