The Minneapolis Health Department and Tree Trust are partnering to bring low cost trees to residents of Minneapolis. Check out the Trees tab above for more information on tree species that are available.

Here are the Details:

  • The lottery will be open from February 1st, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. to March 14th at 4:00 p.m.
  • Ordering opens March 17th, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Trees are $30 each. You may purchase 3 trees per Minneapolis address.
  • Trees must be planted in Minneapolis and planted on private property.
  • Read the TREE SALE FAQS before proceeding, to learn how the sale works and related policies.
  • Please set up a Shopify customer  ACCOUNT, which will be required for purchasing in the sale.

  • Trees will be available for pick-up on May 30th, May 31st, or June 1st. More information under PICK-UP DETAILS
  • **These trees do not come with a warranty. There are no refunds for trees that are not picked up during the designated time frame or for trees that die following removal from the pickup site** 
  • Enroll in the Minneapolis Tree Census! Fill out this form to participate. Participants will receive 1-2 emails per year with a short survey to report on the health of their tree to help inform future programming.
  • Please contact us (651-358-0488) if you would prefer to arrange for payment by check. 

Things to consider:

  • Trees must be planted on your own private property, not on the boulevard (area between sidewalk and street). Minneapolis residents and property owners are welcome to request a new boulevard tree by calling (612) 313-7710 or emailing forestry@minneapolisparks.org.
  • Large shade trees should be planted at least 15 feet from power lines and/or buildings.
  • Save money on energy by planting large shade trees on the east or west side of your home.
  • Evergreen trees are about 3-4 feet tall; Shade trees are about 5-8 feet tall.
  • Trees weigh approximately 20-40 pounds.
